Job Title: Facilities Assistant
Hours: Part-time
I. Purpose of the Job:
The Facilities Assistant supports the vision and daily operations of Fellowship Church by assisting the Facilities Coordinator in maintaining safe, clean, organized, functional, and prepared facilities and grounds. This position provides hands-on facilities support while also helping lead and support the Dream Team members who serve within the Support Team.
II. Classification and Expected Hours of Work:
- Essential Personnel
- Although the general schedule is part-time, there may be times when the employee is asked to work outside of their general schedule, shifts, or hours based on facility and ministry needs.
- Position requires some overnight on-call responsibility and the ability to work nonstandard hours when facilities needs arise.
III. Experience and Knowledge Required:
- One to three years of experience in maintenance, facilities, janitorial, handyman, or a related field preferred
- Basic janitorial, painting, carpet cleaning, and handyman experience
- Ability to identify facility needs and troubleshoot basic issues
- Ability to communicate effectively through email, text, and phone
- Comfortable using Google Calendar and basic computer systems
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with others
IV. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Facility Readiness & Maintenance
- Assist with the daily care, maintenance, cleanliness, and preparation of Fellowship Church facilities and grounds during and outside of service hours
- Complete assigned work orders, recurring maintenance tasks, and maintenance schedules thoroughly, consistently, and within expected timelines.
- Regularly inspect facilities and communicate maintenance, repair, cleanliness, safety, or organizational needs to the Facilities Coordinator
- Assist with routine and preventive maintenance of facility equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, office equipment, security systems, and other building systems
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve planned maintenance processes and preventive maintenance programs
- Assist with the maintenance and care of church vehicles, including ensuring required vehicle logs are maintained
- Help ensure parking lots, facilities, grounds, storage areas, maintenance closets, and sheds are maintained, organized, and prepared for services, events, meetings, and ministry activities, including assisting with parking permits when needed
Projects, Events & Vendor Support
- Assist the Facilities Coordinator with facility projects, repairs, installations, modifications, construction, cleaning services, telecommunications, permitting, and other Buildings and Grounds needs
- Help ensure church activities, projects, and events have appropriate Facilities representation and support, serving as a Facilities representative when assigned
- Coordinate with and support vendors and contractors onsite, including providing access, communicating facility needs, monitoring work, and following up on concerns
- Inspect construction, repairs, installations, and completed vendor work for visible quality or facility concerns and promptly communicate issues to the Facilities Coordinator
- Assist with receiving, assembling, moving, organizing, and distributing facility-related deliveries, equipment, and supplies
- Assist with facility cleaning vendors, including supporting the Facilities Coordinator and Finance Department in obtaining competitive bids when needed
- Respond to security or fire alarm notifications when assigned, including occasional after-hours, late-night, or weekend needs
Operations & Stewardship
- Maintain facility inventory, monitor equipment and supply needs, and submit purchase requisitions in a timely manner
- Communicate regularly with the Facilities Coordinator regarding maintenance needs, projects, safety concerns, challenges, and outstanding items, and respond to facilities requests and communication promptly
- Exercise good stewardship of Fellowship Church facilities, equipment, supplies, vehicles, and financial resources while following established safety procedures
- Attend required meetings prepared to provide relevant facilities updates and complete other responsibilities as directed by the Facilities Coordinator or direct supervisor
Dream Team Leadership & Support
- Serve as a leader within the Support Team, helping cultivate a fun, God-honoring, life-giving, organized, and excellent serving environment
- Assist with scheduling, roster management, communication, and the training and development of Support Team members
- Help oversee and support Support Team members during weekend services, events, and other serving opportunities, providing clear direction and working collaboratively with staff and Dream Team leaders to ensure facilities, setup, and event needs are carried out with excellence

VI. Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in a combination of indoor facilities, office, grounds, and outdoor environments. The employee may regularly be exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise, equipment, and changing weather conditions.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach, handle or operate equipment and materials, and lift, carry, or move equipment, supplies, and office furniture as required by the position.
